These woodcut prints depict Chinese Guardian Lions, also known as foo dogs, stone lions, or shishi (石獅). The male lion has an embroidered ball and the female lion has a cub.
Cranfield traditional oil-based ink on raw Xuan paper
Each print measures approximately 23cm x 35.5cm
The designs were carved into a blocks of Birch ply.
This was a collaborative project, the original design was created by Jane Lee.
Please note: The Xuan paper used for these prints, whilst strong, is also thin and delicate. Therefore, I strongly advise you to professionally frame them.
My woodcut prints are all handmade, crafted with traditional processes. This means that each print is unique, and therefore the print you receive will not be the exact one shown in the photograph.
